Overview

Oja Tomyam Seafood, nestled in the heart of Shah Alam at Lot 6013 Kampung Batu 6, Jalan Bukit Naga, Seksyen 32, offers a genuine seafood dining experience that beckons both locals and visitors craving flavorful Malaysian coastal dishes. This restaurant specializes in authentic tomyam and seafood classics, making it a compelling choice for those seeking a blend of traditional flavors and fresh ingredients.

The space itself is notably clean and spacious, creating a comfortable ambiance ideal for family dinners or casual meals with friends. While parking can be a challenge during peak hours, the fast and attentive service ensures that guests do not wait long to enjoy their meals. The efficient pace complements the cozy atmosphere, striking a balance between comfort and convenience.

Oja Tomyam Seafood highlights include their signature Udang Goreng Kunyit, Tomyam Merah, and Siakap Masak Kengsom. Each dish embodies a particular depth of Malaysian seafood heritage. The Udang Goreng Kunyit brings a golden turmeric crust encasing succulent prawns, pleasing those with a penchant for aromatic spices and a well-executed crisp texture. The Tomyam Merah stands out with its thick, not overly oily broth where the initial sour punch gently transitions into the balanced tomyam spices. The freshness of the seafood—especially the shrimp—reflects a commitment to quality, though a slightly creamier texture might elevate the soup further for those who prefer a richer mouthfeel.

Patrons who favor classic staples will find comfort in the well-prepared Siakap Masak Kengsom, a steamed sea bass dish cooked with sour and spicy tamarind broth that resonates with typical Malaysian sour-salty nuances. Complementary dishes like Sup Ekor, Kailan Ikan Masin, and Ayam Goreng Kunyit round out the menu with trusted flavors, praised by regulars for their consistency and heartiness.

While Oja Tomyam seafood shines in its seafood specialties and tomyam offerings, some of the non-seafood items like the Nasi Goreng Kampung may feel underwhelming due to a milder seasoning and less vibrant vegetables. Still, the Nasi Goreng Biasa brings satisfactory comfort food appeal with balanced soy sauce seasoning and a decent mix of chicken and cabbage.

Ideal for seafood lovers and those seeking a reliable taste of Malaysian coastal cuisine with a homely yet tidy setting, Oja Tomyam Seafood is well-suited for families, groups, and casual diners who appreciate prompt service and well-executed dishes. The restaurant’s location in Shah Alam makes it accessible for locals craving authentic tomyam and fried seafood dishes, while still maintaining a laid-back dining experience that encourages a relaxed meal away from the city bustle.

In conclusion, Oja Tomyam Seafood offers a dependable seafood-centric menu with highlights that showcase fresh ingredients and traditional flavors in a spacious, clean environment. Some dishes call for a bit of refinement, but the overall experience, bolstered by speedy service and a comforting atmosphere, makes it a worthwhile destination for those eager to explore Malaysia’s rich seafood culinary landscape.

The shop is very clean and spacious, so makan here feels comfortable. Only downside is parking—quite limited, so a bit susah if you come during peak hours. Service is fast though, food comes out quickly which is a plus. Tomyam Campur The soup is thick and not too oily, which I like. First sip, the sourness really hits you, then only the tomyam flavour starts to balance in. Personally I think it’s okay, but my wife said it was a bit too sour. If you makan with plain rice, it works well. But if you just want to enjoy the tomyam on its own, maybe not the best. Could be improved if it was slightly creamier. The seafood is fresh—shrimps are clean and there’s a decent portion of protein inside. Nasi Goreng Kampung Visually, the fried rice looks a bit pale—straight away can see not much chili or belacan used. True enough, the taste was mild, more like nasi goreng kosong with just kangkung and anchovies added. The belacan kick is missing. Kangkung also not so fresh, macam a bit layu already. Honestly, still got a long way to go to get that proper nasi goreng kampung flavour. Nasi Goreng Biasa This one is quite okay. Taste leans more on kicap, but still acceptable. Got a good amount of chicken and cabbage as protein and vege. The colour is nice golden brown. Not much to complain here—standard but can makan. That’s all
